News from Special Hobby 12/2019

The end of yet another year is inevitably coming. It has been long thirty years now since the so-called Velvet revolution in our country, the event which marked the end of the cruel communist regime in November 1989. After a long period of darkness, we were able to return to a free life and began to rebuild democracy, once again in our post-war history. And although the very first model kits bearing the now famous MPM logo on their boxes had begun to appear on the shop shelves back in 1989, the MPM company was officially established only the next year, in 1990. So in 2020, we are going to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of MPM (now Special Hobby) in the model industry.
But first things first, it is the time now to announce the new models we have prepared for the this December. After some delay, we are happy to be able to bring you the 1/72 CV-707 Vesikko (SN72004), a model of the Finnish WW2 submarine. But what seems to be really the most important amongst the December new items is the Mirage F.1 Duo Pack & Book, which is a new addition to our series of kits coming with superbly designed and printed H.M.H. Publications. Of all our resin sets, let me mention another great figure to accompany our Siebel Si 204/Aero C-3A family of kits as well as the interior set for the Airfix’s 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XIV

In the final stages of the war, the Allied managed to capture a handful of Draches and put them to flight tests in Britain and in the USA whilst in France, there were actual attempts to develop the type further.

Siebel Si 204/Aero C-3 Rigger (prop maintenance)

Art.no. Scale Barcode
129-F48359 1/48 8595593127378

A resin figure of a mechanic (or a rigger, to be more precise) maintaining and adjusting the propeller unit of a Siebel Si 204/Aero C-3A aeroplane. The rigger is posed by the prop with one hand holding a prop blade and the other one cleaning the oil leaking from the spinner. The sculptor of this set was closely inspired by a period photo and achieved very realistic  and natural pose of the figure. Our rigger can be used in either a Luftwaffe-themed diorama or to portray a Czechoslovak air force airman as the post war CzAF took advantage of using captured ex-German equipment.
